From Tony Lee, NESN.com:
When the Red Sox left Seattle on the heels of two straight damaging losses, things looked a tad grim. Consecutive wins over the reeling Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have brightened the skies.
With Josh Beckett on the mound Wednesday afternoon the Sox can finish their second sweep of the Angels this year and return home on a winning note.
Beckett, who returned from a two-month layoff Friday in Seattle, will have some tough acts to follow. Clay Buchholz threw seven superb innings in Boston’s 6-3 win in the series opener, and John Lackey worked into the eighth to get the victory in his return to Anaheim on Tuesday night.
The Sox are now 5-4 on their 10-game West Coast road trip.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, has lost six of seven and is fading fast, now 8 1/2 games behind Texas in the American League West and 13 behind wild card-leading Tampa Bay in the loss column.

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-5 to complete the sweep. John Lackey threw 6 innings, letting up 4 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 5 and walked 2 while running his record up to 8-3. David Ortiz helped out with a 2-run home run in the third inning. Kevin Youkilis, Marco Scutaro, Adrian Beltre, and Daniel Nava all contributed with RBIs as well.
The Sox bring their winning streak into a weekend series with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the long-awaited return of Manny Ramirez to Fenway Park.

Jon Lester regained his form last night pitching seven innings while letting up two runs in leading the Boston Red Sox to a 6-2 win over the sinking Arizona Diamondbacks. Three walks and four hits rounded out his stats. Lester brought his win total to 9 this season – second in the American League and third overall in MLB. His confidence really came back when he pitched out of a one-out, bases-loaded situation in the fourth innings. In addition to Lester’s heroics, Dustin Pedroia continued his charge back into the spotlight by hitting a two-run homerun in the first. Kevin Youkilis also added a two-run homerun in the seventh. In between, Adrian Beltre and J.D. Drew helped with an RBI each.
The Sox go for the sweep tonight when John Lackey takes the hill at Fenway Park (6:10pm).
