It has been a great year for us here at Big Dan’s Ramblings. I started publishing posts in May of this year and have seen a fairly steady increase of hits every week. The posts ranged everywhere from recipes to product reviews to a stretch where we were updating almost daily on Red Sox news. Over this time, I have slowly started to find my voice and figure out where I want to take this blog. It is still a work in progress, but we’re getting there.
Next year, I am committing myself to posting at least one unique post every week in addition to a weekly wrap-up post. The goal is to build a regular readership here that will grow into a fairly regular blog.
As a unique kind of review, here’s a list of the top five BDR posts from 2011 based upon the number of views each one received. Read more of this post

The staff at BDR would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
We hope Santa was very good to you and that you enjoy this time with your loved ones.
We’d also like to thank you for reading BDR over the last eight months and ask that you continue to support us.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Some things require no description at all!

Here we have Dan Connolly’s performance in what probably accounts for the most historic kick return by a guy who could eat an entire Old 96’er (Great Outdoors reference!). I know that this video has been played a lot this week, but I just can’t get over how awesome it is. Here you have a guy who is listed at 6’4″, 313lbs running 71 yards on a kick return. Freaking Awesome!
We all know that Dan Connolly is no Devin Hester. Not even close. For the most part, Connolly only ever gets his name called when he screws up a block. That’s the life of an offensive lineman – I know. But, he had every present and former lineman – regardless of what team you root for – standing up and cheering on this play. How could you not? Seeing a guy this big run with the ball, stiff arm and cut back is fun thing to watch.
Here’s to you, Mr. Connolly, for making all of us big guys cheer!

– We discussed the end of an era with Brett Favre’s Consecutive Game Streak Ending.
– It looks like UMass football will be moving to the MAC. I’ll have more on that next week.
– Other than that, it was a pretty slow week over here at BDR.
– Life has been pretty hectic on the home front, however. Mrs. BDR and I tried to take the girls to see Santa, but the fat guy was on lunch break when we got there. Unfortunately, we were up against a pretty tight schedule and had to boogie out of there before we had a chance to get their picture taken. Hopefully we’ll get to do that today. Other than that, we’ve been busy getting presents together, figuring out our travel plans, and coordinating our nightly activities as we both have work-related activities at night this week. Speaking of work, I went through a small round of layoffs this week. That brings the total for the year up to four. I have been lucky so far. Hopefully the new year will bring bigger and better things for my company.
I’ll be posting here this week, but if you don’t have time to read us, have a Merry Christmas and stay safe!
