Where Was This Size In High School?

Trying to delay probable disappointment and eventual anger, I purposely avoided the bathroom scale for the last week. As the Thanksgiving holiday rolled through, I enjoyed all the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, desserts and libations with, essentially, reckless abandon. And why not? I was with friends and family, celebrating my absolute favorite holiday. But, as with all good things, the holiday came to an end. My folks went home, my brother headed to Aspen for the winter (a story for a different time) and the alarm finally had to be turned back on for the dreaded post-holiday Monday morning. As is part of my usual morning ritual, I stepped on the scale. I do this every morning – it helps me gauge not only the effect of my most recent physical activity but, probably more importantly, the effect of my latest dietary intake. I’m a big guy – but even I was surprised at the number I saw. Was there really a 7 after that 2? Yup – I was tipping the scale at a whopping 270lbs! Read more of this post

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a quick note to wish everyone a happy, healthy Thanksgiving!  I’m thankful to all of you who take the time to come on over and give us a read.  I’m also very thankful for my wonderful wife and daughters and the rest of my great family who makes my life so full and exciting.

Enjoy your day everyone – eat, drink, and be merry!

We’re Baaaaaack!

Big Dan's RamblingsHi folks. I’d like to apologize for the ‘radio silence’ over the last two weeks. The wife and I took a nice, relaxing vacation to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and then I spent the next week catching up on the chaos at work. Between all of that and then travelling to Massachusetts last weekend for my nephew/godson’s birthday, we’ve been rather busy!  Fear not, however, as I have not forgotten about you.  I did a little thinking about you over the weeks away and I do have some ideas for future articles.

I’ve decided that this blog needs to be more about me and less about ‘things.’  In the past, I’ve written product reviews and, recently, I’ve been posting a weekly quote.  That will stop.  I’m going to be more spontaneous with the posts – more about my life and what’s going on.  Less about ‘stuff’ that’s in my life.  That’s not to say that I won’t write about a product I buy which I really enjoy or post a funny, inspirational, or how-could-they-be-so-stupid quote now and again, but I won’t be writing about every little think I buy (that draft review of the Cisco-Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router I bought is getting deleted – good product by the way!).

So, that’s all for now my friends.  Stay tuned and we’ll be updating soon.
