Ramblings from a Boston Boy stuck in New York
Sox Can’t Capitalize on Yanks Loss
1-July-2010Posted by on
Even though the New York Yankees lost to the Seattle Mariners, the Boston Red Sox stayed one game out of first place in the AL East as they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 9-4 on Thursday night. In the six innings he pitched, Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up three runs on six hits while striking out five and walking just two batters. His record dropped to 5-3 on the season. Despite the output of DH David Ortiz (2-3, 3 RBI, 1 Run), the Red Sox could only muster four runs. In fact, the Red Sox entire lineup had issues with three of their starters (Kevin Youkilis, Bill Hall, and Darnell McDonald) going a combined 0-for-11.
The Sox are off tonight as they prepare for a homestand at Fenway Park this weekend against the Baltimore Orioles. Your truly will be attending the game on Saturday night. Hopefully the update for that game will come with a few pictures!
