Nava Enough: Sox Pounce Phillies
13-June-2010Posted by on
The Boston Red Sox were trying to figure out how to work out of a 2-0 hole against the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2nd inning when rookie Daniel Nava stepped up to the plate for his first professional at bat. One pitch and one swing ended the Red Sox curious thoughts. Nava popped a grand slam to the bullpen in right centerfield. And, just like that, the Sox took a 4-2 lead that was never relinquished. Over the next seven innings, the Sox tacked another six runs on to win 10-2. Nava ended up going 2-4, adding a double to his grand slam. Overall, a great day for the Red Sox!
After two blowout victories in a row against the Phillies, the Sox send Tim Wakefield (2-4, 5.28) to the mound today at 1:35 to conclude the sweep.
