KC Ends Sox Win Streak At 5
In his first start after nearly throwing a no-hitter, Daisuke Matsuzaka walked eight batters and let up three runs on two hits in just 4-2/3 innings, allowing the Kansas City Royals to escape with a 4-3 victory and end the Sox winning streak at 5.
The Sox loss coupled with the Rays win over the White Sox puts the Sox 6.5 games back in the AL East (3rd place) heading into the Memorial Day weekend. There’s still plenty of season to go, but they need to start beating teams like the Royals if they want to maintain any kind of playoff contention.
